Phyllis M. Connolly – biography
Watercolor is my medium, and I have been painting for over eight years.
I only work with watercolor primarily because I love the watercolor paintings of other watercolor artists. The purpose of my work is to improve my skills, learn more with each piece, and enjoy my outcomes. I also value the satisfaction that others have from viewing my work.
I consider myself a novice in this work and I love the outcomes of the medium. My favorite subjects are seascapes, landscapes and animals. I designed notecards from several of my paintings and for the past six years designed my annual Christmas card.
I have participated in intense group classes for over six years with local artist, Tricia Reichert. And, I sought additional competencies in a number of watercolor courses at Hancock College with Sandra Johnson and Martha Fast. I also sought to improve my drawing skills with Ronald Rogers in the “Joy of Drawing” at Hancock College.
I am an active member of the Central Coast Watercolor Society and the Trilogy Art Group. I initiated and manage the Annual Fund Raising Exhibit for the Friends of the Nipomo Library. I have had paintings hung in Gala De Arte, Trilogy Soirees, The Monarch Dunes Tour Center, the Nipomo Library Exhibits, and the Burton House Restaurant in Nipomo. Many of my paintings are hung in my daughter’s home and office. Nice statement of support. And, my grandchildren have several of my paintings. They are quite enlightened checking to see if they have an original or if it is a print that it is the first print.
One of the major driving forces for developing this website has been my 93 year old former mother-in-law. After sending her some of the note cards I had made she asked if I had a website so she could order more.
